Lately, I have just been feeling off and feeling like I’ve been doing a lot of things that don’t align with my true self. That included me focusing on things that didn’t align with my vision, or endeavors that seem like big opportunities but have definitely drained me. I was doing a lot of strategizing for likes, engagements, brand deals — but a lot of the things I did never really aligned with what messages I truly wanted to share, or what’s truly on my mind.
And that is why in the middle of the night, I decided to hop off from my long-standing blog and social media accounts to create this space for me, my growth, and my journey. And, if you happen to resonate with them, I invite you to join in. 🙂
Hence, I titled this post “5 Ways to Rebrand Yourself” because I feel like that’s what I am planning to do. To cut the noise, to focus on what truly matters, and to express my true self without veering away from my core values. I am on the process of doing this rebrand, and here are 5 ways that I plan to do it. If you’re also thinking about rebranding yourself (whether that’s your business, professional or personal life) then maybe this can help you too.

How to start over again: 5 ways to rebrand yourself
Think about what really matters to you
The first thing I did is reevaluate where I am spending my time on. I realized that I am spending my time building a brand where I am chasing engagement from an audience that I don’t really like. I know I take care of myself because I love feeling confident and being my best self, and I am aware that I get attention from the opposite sex, but honestly that is really not what I want and it bothers me. In addition, I constantly felt like people I know were waiting to see what I’d post next to just see “what I’m up to” but I felt like I wasn’t truly inspiring anyone. I felt like I was contributing to the comparison trap, and even if they know I work hard to live a life that I love, I realize that not all people would have the privileges as I do. I also don’t want to constantly share my life to people that have not earned my trust and feel obligated to share those parts of me for engagement.
This, along with the constant hustle of selling things and chasing brand deals just burned me out. I took the time to really think of my true goals (expressing myself and bringing value as an author) and I found the true spaces which I should focus on. So, I encourage you to think about what is truly valuable to you. Cut everything that drains you, and focus on fewer things that will help you move forward.
Spend moments in silence
At this age and this season of my life, one of the things that I truly value the most if peace. For me, material possessions or earthly success doesn’t mean anything if I don’t have peace. I just want peace internally and externally. And for me to be able to do that, I intentionally spent time in silence. Like I said, I cut the noise from social media, the constant need for validation, and constantly wanting people “to be there for me”, constantly wanting friends or community to regulate my emotions. There are many times that I have struggled with this, but the longer I sit in the silence and sit with my feelings, the stronger and more resilient I become.
I realized that God is my true constant in the noise of people who have different opinions and lives of their own. I realized that I can sit in silence and listen to God’s voice. His voice is a still and small voice, and when you take the time to listen to Him first before you listen to others, that’s where peace comes in.
Have a vision
In order to move towards something, you must have a vision. This is something that I am still working on, because I honestly feel like I don’t have a strong vision of who I want to be. I recently watched this Netflix series called “Self-Made” which was the story of Madam Walker, the first recorded self-made millionaire who changed her life as a washer woman and became a successful entrepreneur.
She has a vision of what she wanted to do, and she did everything she should (time, effort, personal sacrifices) to be able to achieve her vision. Your vision has to be strong for you to be able to do that. I have an upcoming trip that will help me spend time with God and really think about the vision of my life (and what He wants me to accomplish).
Embody the habits of the person you want to be
This is one of the hardest ones because it is a daily commitment. You have to think about the habits of the person you want to be and start doing them. You have to believe that the small things you’re doing have a ripple effect on the larger outcomes of your life. People who don’t believe that one coin can fill the piggy bank or one page can fill a book won’t be able to accomplish what they would have wanted to do.
So everyday, I set an intention to be the healthiest, joyful, peaceful, and God-aligned version of myself. I cannot control others, but I can take charge of myself.
Trust the journey
One thing that I am also constantly learning is that I have to learn how to trust the journey. Even with working hard and making sure that I am doing things the right way, I cannot control the outcomes.
I have to trust that everything that is for me will eventually be for me, and I have to obey and stay true to my values. I want to love and live the way God wants me to, whatever the outcomes may be, because that is the only thing that I want to matter in my life.
That’s it! I can’t believe I wrote this all in one sitting. There’s just really magic in aligning yourself with what truly speaks to your heart. Creating this blog post filled my cup, and if it helps just one person, that’s already valuable to me.
Til next time,
Angeline
